(The unnamed ship in the report is the 5,297-ton Hazelside, which was sunk by U-68 on Oct. 28, 1941. This was the second ship named Hazelside owned by Charlton, McAllum & Co. sunk in World War II. The first was sunk on Sept. 24, 1939 by U-31.)

Note the report in columns 1-2: "Nazis Say They Sank Destroyer Off Canada; Damage Merchantman"
(This was true, HMS Belmont was sunk by U-82 off Halifax on Jan. 31. There were no survivors from the 138-man crew. That was the last ship sunk by U-82, which was attacked three times and was finally sunk, also with all hands on Feb. 6, while trying to get back to France.)
