Note the headline report: "Claim Japanese Battleship Sunk"
(The claims of the successes achieved by the U.S. and Dutch forces in the Battle of Balikpapan get larger day by day. Earlier reports claimed an aircraft carrier was sunk, now authorities have added a battleship to the list of ships sunk in the battle. The first Japanese battleship sunk in the Second World War was the Hiei, which was sunk by U.S. aircraft on Nov. 13, 1942 during the First Naval Battle of Guadalcanal.)
