No Italian destroyer was sunk on Wednesday Apr. 2, but the R.A.F. sank two destroyers, Nazario Sauro and Daniele Manin, and damaged two others badly enough to put them out of the war, Cesare Battisti (Scuttled due to damage) and the torpedo boat Giovanni Acerbi (severely damaged and hulked.) Two other destroyers, Tigre and Pantera were scuttled by the Italians off Someina to avoid being caught by British warships.) |
