Note the report in column 5: "Halifax In U.S.: Crack Battleship Took Him"
(Just a front page report letting the Germans know that Britain's newest battleship, HMS King George V, is in the U.S.A. and will of course be returning to Britain at some point. This gives the U-boat arm time to plan the best way to attack this warship on the return voyage. They could have reported him in the UNited States, but did not have to say how he got there.)

January 24, 1941: Front page of The Daily Mail, Hull, England.

Also note the report in columns 4-5: "Lady Astor Appalled and Hurt By Lindbergh's Testimony"
Also note the photo at top left: "Fort Benning, GA. Gen. Patton Designs A Tank Uniform"
(For those who have seen the 1970 film Patton, and wondered what the uniform looked like, this is it. In the film, George C. Scott [Patton] mentions that he designed a uniform for the Army, but they did not accept it.)

January 24, 1941: Front page of The Evening Gazette, Xenia, Ohio.
(Click on the image for a readable version.)

Note the report in columns 5-7: "Lone Aviator Proves One-Man 5th Column"
(An unnamed Australian airman, who was taken prisoner by the Italian's at Tobruk, managed to convince many (the report says thousands) of Italians to surrender rather than fight it out. He surely saved the lives of hundreds of Italian and Empire forces by doing this. I wonder if he was decorated for this action? I also wonder, because of the record of the press, how much of the report is true?)
