The birth of the latest class of British submarine took place at Vickers Sons & Maxim in Barrow on July 10, 1906 when two boats were launched. The C-1 and C-2 slid down the ways starting a thirty-eight boat class. Both of the submarines launched on this day survived the Great War and were scrapped. |
