The Kaiserliche Werft in Danzig built two of the Bremen class cruisers, the first one, SMS Berlin, was launched September 22, 1903 and the second, SMS Danzig, was launched September 23, 1905. Laid down as Ersatz Alexandrine the name Danzig was given to the ship at the launch ceremony. SMS Danzig survived the war and was turned over to the U.K. as war reparations and scrapped 1921-23. |
