One year ago today the shrimp boat Eric H was found burning in the Gulf of Mexico about 90 miles west of Naples, Florida. The boat was fully engulfed in flames when found by the NOAA ship Odin Explorer, who contacted the US Coast Guard. Nobody was on board and an extensive search which lasted three days found nobody in the water. Three men, all from Texas were aboard when the boat left port. Kenneth Simpson, his son Travis and a friend, Benjamin Gilbert. To the best of my knowledge the bodies have still not been found. |
