Daily Event for October 5


October 5, 1914: The 2,194 ton passenger/cargo ship Medoc was destroyed by fire in the Royal Albert Dock in London. The French owned ship was built in 1884 and was used on the Bordeaux - River Plate route. She was also used as a transport in the Boxer Rebellion in China in 1902 where she was rammed by the FS Latouche Traville. The Medoc was repaired and used until destroyed in London.
