I am good friends with a sailor who served on the California from April-1944 thru May-1946. His name is Arthur Gardner, he will be celebrating his 97th birthday in June. He is still very active at his age and loves sharing stories about his time on board the California. He was from Waynesboro, MS and currently resides in his home town.
