August 1944: Officers of Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron 21 seen at Mios Woendi, Schouten Islands, Indonesia. At this time RON-21 was under the command of Lt. Paul T. Rennell, U.S.N.R. Lt. (j.g.) Emery M. Newton, Jr., U.S.N.R., commanding officer of PT-323 is seen sitting on the ground to the right of the stairs. Newton was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in RON-21.
