August 1, 1944: USS Franklin CV-13 seen off the Mariana Islands.

 

October 30, 1944: USS Belleau Wood CVL-24 (left) and USS Franklin CV-13 both burning after being hit by Kamikaze aircraft off the Philippines. Fifty six men were killed on the Franklin and ninety two were killed on the Belleau Wood.
