HMS Avenger F-185 seen during a Gulf patrol c. Dec. 1980 / Jan. 1981. Not the Union flag painted on the bridge for aerial identification. As a side note
note the helicopter on HMS Avenger was named 'Purdey'. (In the television show The New Avengers, Purdey was played by Joanna Lumley!!). The drafting authority had a sense of humour because the First Lieutenant was a very nice gentleman called......... Bernie STEED! |
