I am a Dutch citizen, I came to England in 1949 Ex Netherlands Navy married to an Ex Wren (for 63 years now). I am 85 years old. I was a visitor on board H M S York as a young lad in Amsterdam in 1937 (or was it 1938?). I was spoiled by the crew and never have forgotten that. I kept up a correspondence with a crew member I knew as Pat Patterson until the Germans occupied my country. What happened to them during the war? We now live in Portslade near Brighton. Can you help me.

Thank you,
Henk van Geene

I am currently trying to ascertain where the YORK visited during the voyage to the America and West Indies. My father in law Peter Kane ordinary seaman on the ship Peter joined the RN April 1933 and the YORK was his first ship. He served in the RN for 27 years and came out as CPO. We believed he may have married during the voyage in the US.

Regards,
Roy Cutler
