3. July 23, 2017 I was a crew member of this vessel. The photo showing the crew was taken in late 1969 when the vessel was under refit at Royal Navel Base, Singapore. I'm standing back row between 0 & 7. I was LEP (local enlisted personal) I served in the RCT from 1964 to 1970. Abdullah bin Osman |
2. July 13, 2015 I was wondering if you would have any information regarding the crew of HMAV Ardennes L-4073? The man on the far left in a white uniform (in the photo in message #1) is my grandfather Krishnamurthi Ramu, and he was the Captain's steward on board the ship for five or so years. We came across this photo that Maria Osborne posted and he was delighted, but he would like to know if you would know anything about the ship's captain, Lt. Armstrong as he considered him a friend. Any information would be great! If you could also please send our thanks to Maria on behalf of my grandfather, letting her know that he is thinking of her father, it would be appreciated. Thank you, Shalini N |
1. Oct. 27, 2012 I am the daughter of Sgt. Louis Shephard, REME who served on the HMAV Ardennes in Singapore from 68-71. My father unfortunately has passed away, but I found this attached photo showing the crew from what I believe was the last crew to sail in Singapore. We lived on the island of Palau Brani while we were stationed there. I was a student during this time at Bourne and St. John's school. I do not have any of the names, but thought your visitors to your site might recognise either themselves or family members. My father is in the front row on the end on the right hand side. My father died last year of the asbestos related disease Mesothelioma. I hope you find the attached photo good for your photo board. Best regards, Maria Osborne (nee Shephard) |
