The sailor in the second row, second from the left who is smoking a pipe is my granddad, Thomas Norton from the Collyhurst Moston area in Manchester. Granddad served in the Great War and was on Irresistible which hit a mine in the Dardanelles 18/03/1915 and was rescued and taken on board the Ocean which was also sunk on the same day. He also served in WW II in the Battle of Narvik on the HMS Hunter which was sunk after being torpedoed.
