HMS Ramillies at Aotea Quay, Wellington, New Zealand. She was open to the public soon after Christmas, 1939. At dawn on Saturday, Jan. 6, 1940, she sailed for the Middle East with the four ships of the Wellington group, and teamed up with two ships from Lyttelton with the South Island contingents. Together, they comprised the first echelon of the 2nd Division, NZ expeditionary force. With her was HMAS Canberra and HMNZS Leander (for the Tasman Sea crossing). |

A set of 15" (381mm) guns on display in front of the Imperial War Museum in London, England. The gun on the left (as if you were inside the turret) came from HMS Ramillies, the gun on the right from HMS Resolution, but was later mounted in HMS Roberts. |
