I am researching the family my late Grandfather Archibald Patrick Mahoney, born at Queenstown Cork Ireland 25 Nov 1890. He moved to Canada as a young man then returned to Europe for WWI then back to Canada where he died in 1964. I had no record of my Grandfathers parents until I found a news item in the Toronto Globe and Mail newspaper, in this news item my Grandfather is signing an Application form for the WWII Reserve Army. In this news item my Grandfather Archibald Patrick Mahoney states  "his father was a Captain in the Royal Navy, his last ship being H.M.S. Magnificent" So now I am researching my Great Grandfather Captain Mahoney or O'Mahoney (I was told my Grandfather changed his surname once he arrived in Canada from O'Mahoney to Mahoney) Would you have any info on the H.M.S. Magnificent Captains?
