The entrance to Jervis Bay Park. The park is dedicated to the memory of the men lost in HMS Jervis Bay on Nov. 5, 1940 when she was sunk by the German cruiser Admiral Scheer. One local resident, Stoker Alexander M. "Jimmy" Johnson, was lost in the battle, the first man from the area to be lost during World War II. |
