The Hall County War Memorial, located on the grounds of the Hall County Courthouse in Memphis, Texas. The memorial is dedicated to to citizens of Hall County who gave their lives in World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Persian Gulf. It is also dedicated to two local men, Fire Controlman Cleatus Lebow, U.S.N., a survivor of the USS Indianapolis and Major John K. Wells, U.S.M.C., commanding officer of 3rd Platoon, Easy Company, 28th Marines, 5th Marine Division, the Marines that raised the flag on Mt. Suribachi.
