Update: On July 12, 2010 Coppell Mayor Mayor Jayne Peters murdered her 19 year old daughter Corinne, and some hours later committed suicide in the Coppell home they shared. As of 2019 no concrete reason for this action has been determined by officials.

The Coppell Police Department Fallen Officer Memorial, on the grounds of the Justice Center in Coppell, Texas. The memorial is dedicated to the two officers of the Coppell Police Department who lost their lives in the line of duty. Officer Donald Swearingin, End of Watch Dec. 12, 1972 and Officer Michael Johns, End of Watch Dec. 28, 2001.
