September 15, 1915: Survivors from SMS U-6 being picked up by HMS E-16. After torpedoing and sinking the U-boat, Lt. Commander Talbot and his crew picked up the five survivors at the risk of their own boat. These photos show the German sailors being removed from the North Sea. Some of these photos were used later in the press to show British compassion towards the enemy.

MaritimeQuest wishes to give our deepest appreciation to Col. John Talbot for providing access to his father's magnificent photographic collection for publication on this site. The collection spans several decades and is filled with many rare and some never before published photographs and were are very grateful that he has allowed us to publish the collection.

We also wish to thank Patrick Langrishe without whom the collection could not have been published. Patrick scanned and rescanned the collection in order to obtain the fine quality images presented here. Thanks must also go to Philip J.
