(The top stories of the day are the earthquake in Turkey and the damage to a British battleship. The name of the battleship was not released, however it was HMS Barham. The ship had been torpedoed by Kapitänleutnant Fritz-Julius Lemp and U-30, the same man who sank Athenia on Sept. 3, 1939.)
