November 29, 1939: Front page of the Press and Journal, Aberdeen, Scotland.
(Click on the image for a readable version.)

Note the report in column 6: "Helping to Trace 22,000 Poles"
Also note the report in column 5: "Loss of Cruiser Denied"
(This was the response by the Admiralty to the reports yesterday of U-47 sinking a British cruiser.)

November 29, 1939: Front page of The Examiner, Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.
(Click on the image for a readable version.)

November 29, 1939: Front page of The Telegraph, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

November 29, 1939: Front page of The Winnipeg Tribune, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
(Click on the image for a readable version.)

Note the report at bottom right: "Defeat Means Death For German Leaders"
(The interviewee, Prof. Moritz J. Bonn, was more correct than perhaps even he realized. After the war many of the top Nazis committed suicide, including Hitler, many others were later executed by the Allies.)

November 29, 1939: Front page of The Lethbridge Herald, Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.
(Click on the image for a readable version.)

Note the headline at the very top: "Hopes Rise For Finnish-Russ Peace"
(A very overly optimistic headline. The editor apparently failed to read any other press report of the day, considering that Russia had broken off diplomatic relations with Finland. Every other paper was reporting, quite correctly, that the situation was growing critical.)

November 29, 1939: Front page of The Ogden Standard Examiner, Ogden City, Utah.
(Click on the image for a readable version.)

Note the report in column 2: "Stalin Blames Allies For European Conflict"
(After Stalin and Hitler invaded Poland and divided it between the two nations, his "view" is that it was really the Allies who started the war. Of course he did not believe such rubbish, but he was aware that there were people who would. Such people are called "useful idiots' by communist/socialist leaders. We still suffer from the same condition today. It seems people will believe a lie much faster than they will believe a truth which disagrees with their "political" belief. Socialists/communists completely understand this concept and use it to their utmost advantage, which is to the disadvantage of the population they profess to serve.)

November 29, 1939: Front page of the Butte Montana Standard, Butte, Montana.
(Click on the image for a readable version.)

November 29, 1939: Front page of The Hammond Times, Hammond, Indiana.
(Click on the image for a readable version.)
Note the report at bottom center: "U-boat Commander, 32, Is German Idol"
(Report about Kapitänleutnant Günther Prien, commanding officer of U-47.)
Also note the report in column 7: "Jap Planes Stage Mass Raids on Chinese Towns"

(Click on the image for a readable version.)
1. Chamberlains Verzweiflugsschritt.
(Chamberlain's desperate step.)
2. Englands Exportblockade setzt ein.
(England's export blockade kicks in.)
3. Der neue Kernschuß Priens.
(Prien's new shot.) [Propaganda piece about Günther Prien sinking a British cruiser, which never happened.]
Note the insert at top right: Vizeadmiral Marschall"
(This is a piece about Vizeadmiral Wilhelm Marschall, who was the overall commander of the battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau when they sank HMS Rawalpindi on Nov. 23, 1939.)
