(In totalitarian regimes the censoring of the press and speech is the single most powerful weapon. The Nazis controlled the German press and allowed the citizens to learn only what the Nazi state wanted them to know. In modern times we still have totalitarians in China, Russia, North Korea, Venezuela and many Muslim countries who censor the press. We also have Twitter and Facebook, who take it upon themselves to censor what people are "allowed" to read. Couple that with a dangerous and dishonest mass media which gleefully reports every rumor and lie about one political party while covering up and deflecting any negative story about the other party. In this respect those media and tech companies are no different than any evil totalitarian regime of the past or present.) |

(In the story by Leonard Mosley he uses the phrase "wholesale solution of Germany's Jewish problem." This verbiage is so eerily close to the way the Nazis referred to this subject, The Final Solution of the Jewish Question, that I felt this should be pointed out. Of course the only "state" Hitler created in Poland for the Jews was Auschwitz.) |
