Note the headline: "Allied Pacific Victory May Be Greater Than Claimed" and the sub-headline in columns 2-3: "Two Jap Submarines Sunk Off Australia"
(Any claim made by the Allies of more than the Japanese aircraft carrier Shoho, which was the first Japanese aircraft carrier sunk in World War II. And the loss of one destroyer and two small minesweepers in an air attack against the Japanese invasion force bound for Tulagi in the Solomon Islands by aircraft from USS Yorktown CV-5, are pure propaganda. Keep this in mind as you read the glorious headlines in the newspapers below. The claim of two Japanese submarines being sunk was also false. The headline should have read, no Japanese submarines sunk since Apr. 26.)
