(I have not been able to identify the ship the survivors came from, but the rescue ship, Faja de Oro, did not sunk a U-boat and was sunk herself on May 21, 1942 by U-106. When Mexico declared war on Germany in June, the sinking of the Faja de Oro was mentioned as one of the reasons.)
