Note the report in column 7: "Rome Admits Cruisers Sunk"
(The two cruisers, Albercio da Barbiano and Albertro di Giussano were sunk by HM warships assisted by a Dutch warship. But the Italians were not to be outdone, they announced that their subamrines had torpedoed two British cruisers and sank an ex-Dutch destroyer. The Italian claims were false, but there was a Royal Navy cruiser sunk early on the 15h . HMS Galatea was sunk by U-557 off Alexandria, Egypt. 470 men were lost, including the commanding officer, Captain Edward W. B. Sim, RN.)
