(The unidentified U-boat was U-570. It was on its first war patrol, was forced to the surface and surrendered. It was towed into port and commissioned into the Royal Navy as HMS Graph. Used by the RN for testing, it was wrecked Mar. 20, 1944 and abandoned.)

(To win a bet, George Hopkins parachuted on to the top of Devil's Tower, Wyoming. Now, he is stuck there awaiting rescue. One wonders if his chute was damaged to such an extent that he could not use it to get down.)

(Mrs. Mary Kirk Simpson, childhood friend of the Duchess of Windsor, has died. Mary was married to Mr. Ernest A. Simpson, the man who was divorced by Wallis Simpson before she married the Duke of Windsor, ex-King Edward VIII.)
