Note the report in columns 2-3: "Tiny Boats Slip Into Gibraltar And Sink 3 Ships, Italy Claims"
(In the body of the report the Germans claim to have sunk 16 merchant ships in an attack on two convoys. This time they were both telling the truth. The three ships attacked by the Italians were the Fionashell [sunk] Durham [damaged and repaired] and Denbydale [sunk, raised and used as hulk, scrapped in 1955.] The German attack was against convoy SC-42, the Wolfpack did in fact, sink 16 ships. There were other German attacks on convoy ON-14 and OG-74 in which ships were lost. In addition to that, several unescorted ships were sunk by the Germans.)

(Rear Admiral Yates Stirling, Jr. makes several good points, that would come true, but the prediction that the Germans would use an aircraft launched from a U-Boat, never happened. The Japanese would use them on the west coast, but not in direct bombings of U.S. cities.)
