Note the headline report: "German Raider In The Pacific Shells Nauru And Society Is."
(I can find no evidence that this ever happened. There were at least two "raiders" Hilfskreuzer operating in the Pacific at this time, Komet and Atlantis, but neither shelled the island.)

Note the report in column 3: "Norse Mail Ship Sunk By British, Nazis Say"
(Why the Germans claimed this ship to have been sunk is not clear. They added "only a few of the crew were rescued" which may have been the point of the report. The Germans attempting to create friction between the Norwegians and the British. The truth was, the ship was attacked, but not by the Royal Air Force or the Fleet Air Arm, but by a Russian submarine, K-2. He attacked with his deck gun, but the ship outran him and got away.)
