(The official German news agency reported that the son of Generalfeldmarschall Wilhelm Keitel, Chief of the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht, was killed in Russia. Hans-Georg Keitel was killed in Russia, he died of wounds on July 18, 1941. Berlin also announces the death of the son of Interior Minister Dr. Wilhelm Frick, but gave no details. Both Keitel and Frick were found guilty of war crimes and executed after the war.)

(After two months, Sweden has declared the passenger/cargo ship Venezuela, lost for unknown reasons. The ship was torpedoed and sunk in error on Apr. 17, 1941 by U-123. The U-boat commander noted that the crew had abandoned the ship in lifeboats, but none of the forty-none people who had been aboard were ever found.)

Also note the report in column 5: "German War Ace Claimed Suicide"
(This report, like most such reports, was not true, but would be in a few months. Generaloberst Ernst Udet did commit suicide, but not until Nov. 17, 1941.) The report claims he was under arrest, which was not true, but he was having difficulty with Göring and Erhard Milch. At least this report has a disclaimer that it has not been confirmed and in fact that Berlin has denied the report.)
