(Major Axel von Blomberg, son of Werner von Blomberg, the former Reich Minister of War and Commander-in-Chief of the Wehrmacht, was shot down in error by Iraqi forces at Baghdad on May 15, 1941. His father was no longer a "high Nazi officer" as he was forced to resign his post back in January of 1938. His brother, Oberstleutnant Henning, the only other son of Werner, was killed in action on Nov. 22, 1942 in Tunisia. Werner von Blomberg had been in the news before, it was reported that he was executed back in 1939.)
