Note the report in column 3: "Captain Prien Missing"
(This report credits an unnamed source in Berlin stating that the German navy has confirmed that Günther Prien has not reported since Apr. 13. Other versions which were published in yesterday's papers credit the Zurich correspondent of the Exchange Telegraph Agency for the report. No matter where the report originated, it was incorrect. The last signal sent by Prien was on Mar. 7-8, 1941, his boat, U-47, was sunk with all hands shortly after this. Since there were no survivors, the British did not know that they had sunk Prien's boat.)

Note the headline: "Evacuation Of Greece Completed" and the report in columns 1-2: "3000 Left On The Beaches - Casualties At Sea 500, Gen. Blamey Reports"
(This was a blatant lie. The War Cabinet had been informed that in just one ship, over 1,000 men had been killed. Without doing a great deal of deep research the following ships were lost during the evacuation of Greece. Ulster Prince, Pennland, Slamat [1,000+ dead], Costa Rica. The destroyer HMS Diamond was lost with all hands and there were only about 30 survivors from the destroyer HMS Wryneck. The Greek adventure can only be described as a complete debacle.)

Note the report in column 4: "New York Says Raider Gets 8 Ships"
(A report from "marine circles" in New York claims that the German cruiser, Admiral Scheer, had sunk eight ships in the Indian Ocean. All eight ships, the City of Bagdad, King City, Scientist, Benarty, Athel King [actually Athelking], Kemmendine, Commissaire Ramel and Durmito [actually Durmitor, which was captured, not sunk] were victims of the German Hilfskreuzer [auxiliary cruiser] Atlantis, not Admiral Scheer.)
