(HMS Acheron was sunk by a mine. Ship was on post repair trials after having her stern blown off in air raid Aug. 24, 1940 at Portsmouth. Not much of a report considering 196 men died.)

(5,000,000 Aliens had been registered between June 29, 1940 and Dec. 27, 1940. This was long before computers and modern forms of communications. We have been told for years now that there is just no way to register all of the illegal aliens currently in the United States (some estimates give the number as upwards of 30 million.) yet they did five million in a few months back in 1940.)
