Note the report in column: 5: "15 Ships Torpedoed, Say Nazis"
(The number would end up being correct, but was not at this time as some of the actions had not yet occurred. The ships, all part of the 41-ship convoy, HX-90, were attacked by a wolfpack, which included Günther Prien [U-48] and the top U-boat commander of World War II, Otto Kretschmer and his U-99. Eleven ships, including the armed merchant cruiser HMS Forfar, were sunk and another four were damaged. The total loss of shipping was over 57,000 tons, not including Forfar which was another 16,402 tons.)
