(The unnamed ship was the Dutch passenger liner Volendam. It was torpedoed by U-60. There was only 1 death, Cabin Steward Gerrit P. Barendregt.)

Note the report in columns 5-6: "Hitler Loses 110 Planes in 2 Days: 25 Yesterday"
(The Air Ministry announced that the Germans lost 85 planes on Aug. 31 and another 25 on Sept. 1. They also announced the loss of 37 aircraft on Saturday and 15 on Sunday. Keeping the "Never Doubt" clause in mind, total German losses were 33 on Aug. 31 and 19 on Sept. 1. Of those 13 were lost in non-combat incidents which the Air Ministry could not have known about. The British on Saturday lost 38 aircraft from Fighter Command with 4 others being total constructive losses and on Sunday lost 9 in combat with 3 others seriously damaged or complete losses.)
