Daily Event for October 5, 2012

The 285' Flamsteed was built at Bartram, Haswell & Company, Sunderland, England for Wilkie & Turnbull of
North Shields. She was christened by Miss Drake of Huddersfield and built to the highest class of the time. On October 5, 1886 she sailed from Malta bound for Antwerp with twenty-seven men, the ship and the men were ever seen again. To the best of my knowledge the wreck has not been found to this day.
