January 14, 1903 the submarine Pike was launched at Union Iron Works in San Francisco, California. Pike was the later renamed A-5 and served in the Philippines during the Great War. She sank once at the Cavite Naval Shipyard, but was raised and refit. She was sunk as a target in 1921.
