March 13, 1880 the Lily was launched at Laird Brothers in Birkenhead, England. She was built for the London-Northwestern Railway Company for use between Holyhead and Dublin. She was a paddle steamer, 310' long with a beam of 32'. She was christened by Miss Knowles and was a sister ship to the Violet which was launched in February of the same year. |
