September 10, 1941 the corvette Charlottetown K-244 was launched at Kingston Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. Kingston, Ontario, Canada. One year and one day later on Sept. 11, 1942 she was on the bottom of the St. Lawrence River, sent there by a torpedo from U-517.
