On January 31, 1895 the Majestic was launched at the Portsmouth Dockyard. The Majestic Class was the
largest class of battleships ever built, nine in total. Magnificent was the first laid down and the first
launched, both Majestic and Magnificent were commissioned in Dec. 1895. Majestic was the only ship in the
class lost in combat when she was torpedoed and sunk by the U-21 on May 27, 1915.
