Daily Event for September 18

Sept. 18, 1888 The Nordenfelt IV, which was built at Barrow-in-Furness, grounded on Jutland, Denmark. As the Royal Navy had no interest at that time of purchasing the Nordenfelt submarines, this one was built for Russia and was en route to St. Petersburg when she grounded. The boat never made it to Russia and the Russians in turn did not pay for her.
