July 12, 2003: The USS Ronald Reagan CVN-76 was commissioned. Captain Bill Goodwin was placed in command. The Ronald Reagan was built by Northrop Grumman Newport News. At 1,092 feet long she displaces 98,000+ tons has two nuclear reactors and four screws giving her a speed of 30+knots.  The Ronald Reagan has a capacity to operate over 80 aircraft and has a crew of almost 6,000.
