Location: Philippine Sea, 630 miles east of Samar Island, Philippines.

879 crewmen were killed, 316 survivors were picked up Aug. 2, 1945 by a Catalina PBY and
USS Cecil Doyle DD-368 near position 11.32N - 133.34E (89 miles SSW of the reported position
of the sinking) and landed at Guam on Aug. 8.
