Close-up of the upper plaque seen in the previous photo. (The day these photos were taken the monument had been barricaded off by the City of Dallas in preparation of its removal from public view. Not being able to get close enough to take photos of the plaques the statue conservator, Michael van Enter, kindly agreed to take photos of them for me.)

The lower plaque from the above photo states that the Confederate soldier riding with General Lee represents "The entire youth of the south to whom General Lee became a great inspiration."

This plaque, seen on the outer wall of the monument (photo #2 on page 1) states that the base was erected in 1956 by the Dallas Park Board under Works Progress Administration (WPA) Project #4051. This refers to the outer wall which surrounds the rear of the monument. The pedestal and stairs are part of the original monument.

A plaque crediting those who helped restore the monument in 1991. This plaque can also be seen in photo #2 on page 1, it is mounted on the pedestal under the statue.

Arlington Hall a 2/3 replica of Robert E. Lee's home in Arlington, Virginia was constructed in the park in 1938. It was built under a joint effort by the Dallas Southern Memorial Association, the Dallas Park and Recreation Board and the Works Progress Administration.
