Day 25

September 25, 1939: Front page of the Birmingham Gazette, Birmingham, England.
(Click on the image for a readable version.)
Note the story in column 1: "German Jews Lose Radios"
(The Nazis controlling what information Jews were allowed to hear. Not unlike modern day Twitter, Facebook, Google and numerous so-called "news" outlets, both print and broadcast who censor, block or refuse to report information which is unfavorable to their chosen candidate.)

September 25, 1939: Front page of The Daily Mail, Hull, England.

Note the report in column 6: "Japan Hurls Huge Army Into Action"

September 25, 1939: Front page of the North-Eastern Gazette, Middlesbrough, England.

September 25, 1939: Front page of The Leeds Mercury, Leeds, England.

Note the report in column 4: "Goebbels And His Money Reply To Shameful Reproach"
(A longer version of Dr. Goebbels' reply to a report by H. R. Knickerbocker on Sept. 20, 1939.)

September 25, 1939: Front page of The Melbourne Herald, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
(Click on the image for a readable version.)
Note the story at center: "Death of General Rouses Suspicion"
(Perhaps the writer wanted to start a conspiracy theory, or maybe they were really wondering. It is true that von Fritsch was removed from his post as C-in-C of the German Army under false pretences, but his death in action was not a Nazi intrigue.)

September 25, 1939: Front page of The Newcastle Sun, Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia.

September 25, 1939: Front page of The Lethbridge Herald, Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.

September 25, 1939: Front page of The Bakersfield Californian, Bakersfield, California.
(Click on the image for a readable version.)
Note the headline:"British Destroyer Sunk"
(No British destroyers, or other British warships, had been sunk. The writers of this story picked it up from German press reports, which were false.)

Also note the report at top left: "Fear 48 Dead, Scores Missing in Giant Gale"

September 25, 1939: Front page of the Van Wert Times-Bulletin, Van Wert, Ohio.
(Click on the image for a readable version.)
Note the story at top right: "German Subs Open Unrestricted Warfare"
(This is mostly true, Hitler on Sept. 24th removed the restrictions against attacking French merchant ships and Armed Merchant Cruisers, but he did not remove all restrictions against merchant shipping.)

September 25, 1939: Front page of The Hammond Times, Hammond, Indiana.
(Click on the image for a readable version.)
