Daily Event for May 14, 2010

On May 14, 1944 a twin launch was witnessed by over 5,000 people at the Cramp Shipyard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Moray SS-300 and Roncador SS-301 were christened by Mrs. Styles Bridges and Mrs. Thomas B. Klakring respectively. The keynote speaker was Commodore James Fife, Jr., U.S.N., who said "The quicker you can get hulls such as these into the water, the quicker will be the day when the Jap says he has had enough and tries to quit".

Moray made it into the Pacific and the war, but failed to sink any shipping to my knowledge, Roncador however stayed behind and was used for training in antisubmarine warfare techniques . Moray was sunk as a target in 1970 and Roncador was scrapped in 1973.
