August 22, 1893 the schooner Cora Louise sailed from New York bound for Boston, she never arrived at her destination. August and September of 1893 saw a more active than usual storm season and a number of vessels were reported lost, Cora Louise being one of them. By late September she had not been heard from and I have not been able to find any reference to her having arrived at any port. I have almost no information on this ship which makes it difficult to track. A schooner named Cora Louise is listed in the 1877 and 1878 U.S. merchant ship lists, which are the only ones I have. That ship is shown to be 78 tons and homeported in Dennis, Massachusetts. It is not known by me if this is even the same ship. |
