Daily Event for August 22, 2010

August 22, 1893 the schooner Cora Louise sailed from New York bound for Boston, she never arrived at her destination. August and September of 1893 saw a more active than usual storm season and a number of vessels were reported lost, Cora Louise being one of them. By late September she had not been heard from and I have not been able to find any reference to her having arrived at any port. I have almost no information on this ship which makes it difficult to track. A schooner named Cora Louise is listed in the 1877 and 1878 U.S. merchant ship lists, which are the only ones I have. That ship is shown to be 78 tons and homeported in Dennis, Massachusetts. It is not known by me if this is even the same ship.
