Daily Event for December 27, 2009

Dec. 27, 1940 the cargo ship Ardanbhan was sunk in the north Atlantic while sailing in convoy OB-263. The ship had been damaged by U-38, but remained afloat for some hours until the Italian submarine Enrico Tazzoli happened along and finished her off. What happened onboard in the interim will never be known because the entire crew perished.
