December 17, 1925 the battleship Rodney was launched at Cammell Laird in Birkenhead, England. She was christened by Princess Mary, Viscountess Lascelles and took to the water after the third strike of the bottle of Dominion wine on her bows. Unfortunately during the ceremony a spectator platform collapsed injuring several women.
